Morrisburg, Ontario

The town of Morrisburg played a key and significant role in the development of what is now known as the St. Lawrence Seaway.

The town was re-located in the mid 50's to accommodate the widening of the St. Lawrence River to handle inland international shipping on the Seaway lanes.

Both Queen Elizabeth II and United States President Dwight D. Eisenhower were present at the inaugural ceremonies for the St. Lawrence Seaway.

The town of Morrisburg, as it exists today, is located 1/4 mile north of its' original site.

The town and area are rich in farming and industry to include RohMax of Canada, Beavers Dental, Kraft Foods, Nestle Canada Ltd., Parmalat (formerly Ault Foods), Eckel Industries, Chinook and Casco to name a few.
